AusVaxSafety is conducting comprehensive active safety monitoring of COVID-19 vaccines that are being used in Australia. This is to promote clinician and consumer confidence in the vaccination program. Find out more here. How does AusVaxSafety monitor the safety of COVID-19 vaccines? In partnership with the Australian state and territory health departments, AusVaxSafety is following up people who receive a COVID-19 vaccine by sending them an SMS or email with a short survey that asks if they experienced any adverse event following vaccination (AEFI). Find out more here. How can I get involved in COVID-19 active vaccine safety surveillance? If you are receiving the COVID vaccine at a state immunisation clinic (hub) or in one of the >300 sites already participating in active surveillance, you will have the opportunity to participate in COVID-19 vaccine safety surveillance. If you are a GP, you can get involved in this surveillance by installing the SmartVax software program in your practice. Find out more here. Anyone can report an adverse event following immunisation (AEFI) through the national passive surveillance system. Please refer to TGA website for ways to report AEFIs.
